Midway through writing this, I muttered "this is too long, people are going to be so bored", and then I yelled at myself. I want a 2019 where I strive for more, and also to be better. I do want to advocate for myself, take chances, and make opportunities...
...but I also want to be better at advocating for my community, and to use my platform to amplify the voices of marginalized podcasters AND listeners, especially POC, trans ppl, and disabled ppl. The industry is falling into the same traps as other media; I'm going to fight it.
And it's not that this is surprising (it isn't), but we have the chance to make something better. Audio is literally listening; so let's listen to those who need us to and pass the microphone when we can. Here's to a kinder, stronger, and exciting, if nebulous, 2019!
