If you went back in time to 2014 and showed someone the text of this budget speech and told them Brexit had happened they would probably assume we were governed by a Labour-Ukip coalition

Looking forward to every innumerate political journalist becoming a world expert on 'super deductions' by tea time

Problem for Keir Starmer today. Opposition leaders usually have a shadow chancellor whispering in his ear as the chancellor speaks with dozens of notes passed along the frontbench by aides. Social distancing makes both difficult

And don't forget, evidence like this that would have been heard in court from people in this story was not because a judge decided it was best to kill the recent court case. I would tell you what I think of that individual but I would probably go to jail

Sun is out and I feel about 50 times better today. Never much cared about the weather. The last year has convinced me it is a key to mental health

Just finished book 📙 the . I made the decision not to read it until now to be able to get some perspective and distance. It is fast paced, and written to capture the drama of the year. I think this book is like a fine red wine 🍷it gets better with age.

Bad enough that she says this, truly weird for the party to then flag it up. Perhaps a name change to the Illiberal Democrats beckons

The point is to have a much closer link between the lockdown roadmap and the budget, which are part of the same story for the future of the country

MPs who read the Sunday Times already knew that Boris Johnson would outline the roadmap at the end of the week of Feb 22nd, rather than on the 22nd

Holidaygate: Not sure why we need to be told by govt to book a summer holiday. If you don't book in UK now, you won't find anywhere. No one knows the future, so find places with fair cancellation policy. Ministers: FFS agree a line. Rest of us: take some personal responsibility
