    Oooh!

    I get how relationships with teachers matter, but also, every kid doesn’t want that. As a student, I really didn’t, especially in HS.I knew my teacher was there to teach me, not be another parent to me. Some of y’all have to drop the notion that every kid wants to be saved.

    This thread reminds me that I need to pay closer attention to current events.

    Ok. Deep breath. I think we may look back on this as the first Great Information War. Except we're already 8 years in. The first Great Information War began in 2014. The invasion of Ukraine is the latest front. And the idea it doesn't already involve us is fiction, a lie. 1/

    And I should add on this good first day of women's history month that this model also supports women in leadership who often succeed men and in many cases in male dominated fields

    This is exactly why I push for the intergenerational co-leadership model being piloted at . Not only does it provide the overlap in leadership needed to support transition and succession, it provides built-in support so that leading isn't lonely

    "We have the opportunity to reimagine what it would look like to truly support Black leaders on a sector-wide level to transition into new roles in our movement, and to support the next generation to thrive..."

    Obviously, The Color Purple should be on everyone's list but I'd gift that to younger me. TCP and The Practice of Adaptive Leadership because I needed that framework for leading earlier in my career

    A growing professional's thread

    I got some really tough feedback about my work performance today & honestly I’m devastated. It came as a shock & I wept about it for a while. It is hard to show my face at work. I love my patients & the staff & I genuinely thought I was a good worker. I am really crushed.

    I think both are possible and needed but yes, be future focused

    Too many people spend their lives being dutiful descendants instead of good ancestors. The responsibility of each generation is not to please their predecessors. It's to improve things for their offspring. It's more important to make your children proud than your parents proud.

    I prefer to discuss anti-blackness now b/c it eliminates the idea that only certain people can harm Black folks. Much of who we are as Americans is rooted in prioritizing and praising "whiteness" that even POC and well meaning allies can act in ways that harm.

    Here is another reason why critical race theory is necessary: Too many of you have such an unsophisticated, manipulated and I'd argue convenient understanding of our history and how racial caste works that you think only white people can be anti-Black.
