Biden is blocking expanded domestic oil production and expanding corn ethanol production in the name of preventing ag-disrupting climate change, but the result will be 24% higher emissions, per unit of fuel, and global famine caused by corn shortages
Conversation
The main cause of global corn shortages is the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but Biden’s demand that refineries increase the use of corn ethanol will contribute to worldwide corn shortages

We have known since 2008 that corn ethanol produces more carbon emissions than gasoline, and a new 2022 study by the National Academy of Sciences confirms that corn ethanol produces 24% more CO2 emissions than gasoline

Biden’s anti-oil agenda is thus undermining national security, hurting consumers, and harming the environment. We must urgently expand oil and gas production and refining. It’s a lie that it can’t be done quickly. We can ramp up both within a year.

The people who claim it would take years to expand oil production and refining are lying to you. They are either ignorant or, more likely, ideologically pro-scarcity. Some in industry are profiting on the scarcity, but others want what’s best for the U.S.

For decades, promoters of biofuels like Biden preyed on the disproven ideas that corn is a) more “natural” than petroleum and b) better for the environment.
Dumb ideas about nature are once again proving to be deadly and dangerous.
That has to change.

Biden promised to end “fossil fuels” and therefore oil companies rightfully should be reluctant to make an investment into it.

I want us to increase production and refining. Refining is at 94% capacity. Adding new refining capacity will take years.
That’s not an excuse to do nothing

Have you gotten this information to Biden’s advisors?? Do you know if he understands this? Cornell did a study over a decade ago stating corn ethanol is not a sustainable fuel, we have known this for so long.

The same thing has happened in the housing market. Profitting from scarcity. While demand outstrips supply prices are inflated.

You are correct. Trump proved them wrong. Yet they still gaslight us like they think we’re stupid.

Agreed production can ramp up rather quickly, but if we stopped corn subsidies today, I think bringing refining capacity up to a level that makes us energy independent will take longer. Trump achieved a somewhat level of energy independence, but only after COVID reduced demand.

You can’t switch on a refinery that hasn’t been built, overnight. While land based exploration can be brought on board more quickly, the big reserves are found offshore and take years, if not decades, to discover.
