Three times more homeless die in L.A. than New York City because NYC shelters most of its homeless while Newsom et al have diverted funding from basic, low-cost (~$15k/unit) shelters to expensive (~$600k/unit) housing that there will never, ever be enough of.

In 2019, Newsom said he might try to close a prison but now he says he intends to empty 3 prisons, release 76,000 prisoners early, 64,000 of whom are violent offenders, without rehabilitating them first.

California's homeless themselves express shock at the open air drug dealing, complain of the the relaxed attitude of police officers, and confess to selling fentanyl to children.

People say lack of housing forces local residents into the streets, but James says he came from Texas to San Francisco for the drugs, the non-enforcement of anti-camping laws, and the $820/month in welfare & food stamps. James says he sold fentanyl, 2 weeks ago, to a 15-year-old.

The homeless describe wanton violence and chaos and say they "boost" — steal — to maintain their habits
Quote Tweet
People say high rent causes homelessness but Ben, who has been homeless in San Francisco for 7 years, says the “vast majority” are homeless due to addiction. Just 6-7% are from SF. Ben says he "boosts" (shoplifts) and breaks into cars to pay for his $60/day heroin habit.

Law enforcement warned Newsom that early releases and not enforcing drug and other laws would cause crimes including sexual assault but Newsom ignored them
Quote Tweet
People blame the pandemic for increasing crime & homelessness but Sheriff Villanueva of Los Angeles, a Democrat, says two of the biggest causes were letting 28,000 people out of prison and Gov. @GavinNewsom inviting homeless to come to California from out-of-state

Newsom claimed crime hadn't increased but data had been released days earlier showing that it had
Quote Tweet
On December 17, 2021, when @GavinNewsom announced $350M to combat the epidemic of smash-and-grab robberies, he claimed, "The last full year analysis shows that property and larceny crimes are down 11%" That claim was false, and Newsom almost certainly knew it was false.

Reporters asked Newsom if he wasn't worried that offering free housing would attract homeless from other states and he said he didn't care if it did
Quote Tweet
You'd think Newsom would have learned by now that insufficient shelter results in people getting raped & assaulted, but he is doubling down on his "Housing First" anti-shelter policy, which both attracts people here from across the US and leaves them unsheltered & vulnerable.

People who worked in the homeless industrial complex have denounced Newsom's policy of addiction maintenance
Quote Tweet
Just listen to this damning testimony from a former Housing First worker He was explicitly told not to address addiction, even though it was what was causing their homelessness Gov. @GavinNewsom himself defends this pessimistic & deadly addiction maintenance approach

Homeless encampments are rape camps. It is unconscionable that we allow them. I will shut them down. Newsom will expand and enlarge them.
Quote Tweet
Progressives say it's wrong to require the homeless to sleep in shelters, but nearly every homeless person @lwoodhouse and I interview has been a victim of violence. James in Fresno said he has been assaulted, shot at, and witnessed a rape. He says most homeless are armed.

Californians said "Time's up," when it came to sexual assault. We said, "Be trauma-informed." And we said we must "Center the stories of the impressed." Doc filmmaker & I did. What we discovered has shocked the world:
Quote Tweet
They say it’s just the rent that makes people homeless They say it’s not about the drugs They say housing will save them They’re lying — about all of it. We have just 12 days to get the truth out Let’s go

The problem affects us all. Drug overdose/poisoning is today the leading cause of death among Californians under the age of 45. We must shut down the open air drug markets We must shut down the homeless rape camps. This has to stop. Time's up. We must say no to the chaos.
