No, they're protecting you. It's a new goal to work towards. They aren't against small creators. If you have less than 1,000 subscribers, then you aren't making any substantial money to begin with. Small creators: don't use this as an excuse. This puts you in great position.https://twitter.com/ClarkeAfterDark/status/953428125848915969 …

Small creators don't care about making a couple cents per video. The biggest fear is that monetized videos do better in search & recommended.
@robertoblake, any clear indication that monetization does not matter for ranking or showing up in recommended?2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

There is CORRELATION, but people are MISTAKING that with CAUSATION... I could do a 4 hour lecture that nobody will watch based on conversations I’ve had with AI researchers and all the Google Engineering White Papers I read but none of you will believe me anyway so why bother...

But actually, it's worth bothering... Having someone in your position speak on this would calm a lot of nerves. Obviously the 4h lecture isn't necessary, but a video would be really helpful. For the most part, everyone's just been going off anecdotal evidence.

PS for @TeamYouTube @SusanWojcicki: You should also address this concern that monetized videos affect ability to rank in search & show up in recommended.
Small YouTubers don't care about $. They just fear it's going to be hard to grow. Better communication can quell those fears.
