Look, the Bernie folks argued really strongly to keep the caucuses, because Bernie did better in caucuses in 2016. This is how caucuses work (they don't). Let's all agree to just do it on the basis of votes (primaries).

A few Sanders supporters' responses here reaffirm my position that I will never vote for the Bernie again (unless he wins the nomination, then yes). Even when he wins, his people revert to unsubstantiated claims of someone cheating their candidate out of something.

And for those of you in my mentions: clearly I think this is really messed up too! I don't think this is a way to do democracy. I was just following the rules and this is the outcome the rules got us. If I can ever get the results reported ... still on hold.

These are the results that I've been trying to report for about 2 hours now. I was on hold for about 90 min, CNN wanted to interview about my experience, and in that moment I got off hold ... but couldn't get on fast enough and they hung up on me. I'm back on hold.

So the formula to apportion delegates is the total numbers after 2nd alignment x (the total number of delegates) / (the total of people at the caucus). So these 2nd alignment numbers x 6 / 285 Sanders: 2.44 Warren: 1.72 Buttigieg: 1.53 That rounds out to two delegates each.

  6. And that's what a 27% enthusiasm rating looks like. Sorry, Uncle Joe. I like you, I do. But you're not going to win this.

We had 285 total people in our caucus and a 15% viability threshold, which meant you needed at least 43 people to be viable after the first round.

  8. This poll hasn't had enough people weigh in yet. Needs like 500 respondents. Help out?

It's weird that you're posting things like this when the results aren't in yet, but whatever. Anyway, unrelated, do you have any comment on your campaign reportedly paying the firm that developed the app that caused the results to not be available yet?

Serious question: Have you ever seen a bully not back down when you go after them? I haven’t.

Buttigieg's decision to lie and say he won Iowa before any votes were finalized shows how much he needs this win. He's poured all of his wine cave money into this one (very white) state and without a top two finish, he's no longer a top tier candidate. No more donor cash 😢

Add the Democratic Caucus to the list of things that Iowa is willing to deep fry.

It is absolutely true that the only top candidate who acted responsibly last night was and during a time of great uncertainty that is very appealing.

The app being used tonight was cobbled together in the past two months after a previous reporting scheme - which involved caucus goers calling their votes in over the phone- was scrapped for security reasons. The app was never vetted by DHS, never tested at scale, and NV is...

It’s just amazing how so many things in American life are just constantly getting shittier. Just another in a string of basic institutions failing to basic things they used to be able to do we had to pay some bullshitting business guy for a technology

If you’re feeling really generous you can even redirect them to a customer support chat bot when the service they paid you for is not delivered but 80% of users will just figure that they’re bad at computers and you can rake in cash for services never rendered

This Iowa Democrats app meltdown is a good reminder that a huge fraction of the software industry is based on scamming people and then watching them shrug and blame “the computer” when the service they paid you for doesn’t work
