Small businesses are being absolutely crushed right now. You can’t reasonably ask people to shut down their businesses, even during a pandemic, IF YOU DON’T PROVIDE THEM WITH REAL SUPPORT. This is how people pay their bills and cover their basic necessities. It’s awful.

If we banned Congress from getting a paycheck or pulling from their investments until a stimulus is passed, I guarantee we'd see an agreement by the end of the day.

In 2019, over 500k New Yorkers voters said YES to ranked choice voting. That's more people than voted for Mayor in the Democratic primary last cycle. There is no honest reason to attempt to delay its implementation.

The $1,200 direct payments to working class adults and $500 for children passed in March kept 3.3 million Americans out of poverty. Today, 1 in 4 workers are unemployed or make less than $20,000. Congress must provide direct payments to the working class NOW! At least $1,200.

I’ve said this before on here, but in the UK the moving trucks arrive in Downing Street to take all the outgoing prime minister’s belongings the *morning after* the election is called. There is no lameduckery.

LA County DA announced an end to Money Bail, Enhancements, 3 Strikes, Juvenile Transfers, & the Death Penalty; & efforts to resentence 20,000 ppl in prison. We applaud these changes, but we MUST work to make them all apply retroactively in the interest of justice.

2020 marks yet another year where the police have killed more than 1,000 people. Black people are 3X more likely to be killed by police than white people. No other country even comes close to this amount of death. It's an epidemic.

Graph that shows the rate of people killed by law enforcement per 10 million people. USA: 33.5, Canada: 9.8, Australia: 8.5, Netherlands: 2.3, New Zealand: 2.0, Germany: 1.3, England and Wales: 0.5, Japan: 0.2, Iceland: 0.0, Norway: 0.0.

My theory for why Democrats don't just say this plainly when campaigning is that it feels too unbelievable. If there is no restriction to what we can do and build (other than inflation, which good economic development can account for), why don't we just do it?
