Small businesses are being absolutely crushed right now. You can’t reasonably ask people to shut down their businesses, even during a pandemic, IF YOU DON’T PROVIDE THEM WITH REAL SUPPORT. This is how people pay their bills and cover their basic necessities. It’s awful.

We talked about many aspects of gardening and how Black folks have been in the soil since the soil first existed. However, there is a devastatingly low percentage of Black farmers who own land and crops today.

Let’s call this what it is: state-sanctioned murder. I’m thinking of Brandon Bernard and his family—the system failed them. We cannot allow this to continue. The Biden-Harris administration should commute the sentence of every single person on federal death row.

The federal government under Donald Trump has executed more individuals in recent months than had been executed in the preceding 60 years. The death penalty is inhumane and fraught with error. No government should have this power. It’s past time to .

Brandon Bernard. Heartbroken and fatigued from mourning but we cannot stop raising our voices and organizing for justice. 4/5 of the remaining federal executions this year will be Black men. we need an end to federal executions. We must abolish the death penalty.

Brandon Bernard's last words were for the family of the victims. “I’m sorry,” he said, lifting his head and looking at the witness-room windows. “That’s the only words that I can say that completely capture how I feel now and how I felt that day.”

No living American worked harder to make it easier for the federal government to execute people than . Here, he loses count of how many crimes he made it possible for people to be executed for in the “Biden Crime Bill.” “Everything but jaywalking,” he said.

I have multiple colleagues who BEGGED the Obama Administration, in the final months of his presidency, to commute all (or even some) of the federal death penalty cases to life in prison - including Brandon's case. Obama refused. The DOJ refused. The Attorney General refused.
