Seeing that Duncan liked this has just really brought it home to me how the 3 main male influences in my life are now gone. My dad, TP & DB

-
I'm sorry to both of you for your losses. I lost my father a few years ago, too; I miss him every day & do my best to live up to the example he set me.
-
I lost my Dad 12yrs ago & as more time passes the feeling that Im not living up to his expectations grows. He achieved so much by my age that I havent.
-
What we accomplish externally is the result of so many factors that are out of our control; I'd recommend letting go of his outward achievements & focusing on the standard set by who he was as a person: that's what really matters.
-
Thats good advice. Its just hard to follow. I dont about this very often so I'm not sure what to say next. Lol. Thanks for the reply tho

Satire always pokes at vulnerabilities and pain. If people are powerful or evil, they still hurt. Humor that nobody in the world would mind hearing is not humor at all. Yet kicking people who are down isn't okay. It's just that the joke and the audience are a judgement call.

But not just satire. Humor in general. It's the difference between punching up and punching down.

How about ridiculing the power that is suppose to help the poor but just sits around and does nothing?
-
100% fair target

Lecturing people to "just persevere and believe in themselves" counts.

I also like the definition of satire as "Afflicting the comfortable, and comforting the afflicted".
-
To me that's just the definition of being alive. ;)

or traditionally, of journalism.

Or of good preaching.
