Downtown Los Angeles and San Bernardino need this desperately.

Nope. Where affordable housing in the US is needed the most, zoning and building codes prohibit it

Would be a good solution in Los Angeles 50k homeless, 2 per house, $4K cost 25,000 houses for $100M much less than the numbers they are throwing around to house just a fraction of them. The city owns has enough land

Gov't regs of building codes, like requirements for building cars, make simple & affordable impossible here. See new requirement for rear-view cameras that'll add a required $1k to cost of all new vehicles. Consumer safety is breaking my bank.
-
Buy an older car. My 1999 Lexus (only 160K miles) cost $5500. Low insurance costs, stellar engineering.
-
True. Shame the
#CashForClunkers scam offed so many usable goldie-oldies. Keeping my YJ; cheap & easy to fix.

We might have to sort out a few NIMBY zoning and code issues first. ADA and Title 24 restrictions alone would make this a non-starter here

Building codes, zoning, fire safety codes, unions, suppliers, banks and most importantly......Customers. Who wants to live in a Concrete home with no insulation.
-
Look up aircrete - as much insulation as you want, much cheaper to build. Won't burn, impervious to insects, build a house in a week by yourself. Mortgages are slavery, and they don't want you to notice.

You want to take that up with the construction unions? Good luck with that.

ANOTHER AMERICAN WORKER JOB THEFT....

The 'American worker' needs to figure out how to make a living that's sustainable. If you need protection from a computer or robot, you're in the wrong field...
