Legal scholars on all sides: Does wiretapping the President's attorney possibly threaten attorney-client relationship? Or not?

I thought at least one party had to be in on the tap to justify the warrant.

I don't think so, I think that's the rule in one-party consent tapes where somebody else is recording a call.. FCC rule not for criminal legal purposes... not sure.

To me it seems as though the FBI “leadership”, CIA, DOJ and NSA consider themselves a coequal branch of government (with the approval and consent of some federal judges, and legislators) with no need for oversight.

As an attorney, IMHO attorney-client, doctor-patient, clergy-penitent...all those privileges are on life support with no brain wave at this point...4th Amendment almost dead.

YES! I now know my privileged conversations are not safe from government interception if they want it. REALLY sad day for America.

"possibly"? Certainly it's possible. Maybe even likely based on what we know and can now reasonably presume about FISA abuse during the Obama administration.

So here we are again with another in a VERY long list of crimes committed by our highest levels of government. Sure, yes, this is bad too. At what point does someone actually go to jail that deserves it?

This should terrify every American regardless political views. If They can wiretap the Presidents attorney, Your attorney is a slam dunk.

Yes in my humble non-legal opinion. Especially when they have to use unverified fake documents to support a political ‘witch hunt’ to reverse the outcome of a fairly elected president.

It's scary now. We're living in a police state and if you dare question the system you will be thrown in jail. Why would any American citizen run for office knowing the FBI is spying on you.

One side is OK with wiretapping the other as long as it fits their political goals and agenda. They should consult the memoirs of Joseph Stalin on how to do that best. #wiretapped #MuellerWitchHuntpic.twitter.com/yb7VHbBE5n
