1 Here's the text of Sinclair's promo that Sinclair's competitors and left-wing interests have created a fuss over. (This one for KOMO in Seattle). Let me know what you think about what it says: "Our greatest responsibility is to serve our Northwest communities...." (continued)

Really Sharyl? The concern is that all of them were forced to say the same thing multiple times a week without context to their local community, AND COULD NOT REFUSE!!!!

Clifford, media is not a democracy, true, but when local news is the primary source of information, it has a responsibility to its customers. Forcing conservative leaning information (good or bad) into their living rooms is UnAmerican...

I don't see anything in that statement that suggests conservative leanings, unless you consider unbiased reporting to be conservative

If you assume what Sinclair announced is the norm, why FORCE every station to recite it, and punish those who do not? If you assume the counterfactual, then America has a problem, and Trump is the cause of that problem

Look, if you are a liberal and/or if you oppose Trump, and if you see this as somehow connected to Trump, there's not much room for discussion. But (to me) your question is kind of like asking why McDonald's should "force" all of its restaurants to buy a certain quality of meat.

When Local News stations are forced to say exactly the same thing multiple times a week, and are punished if they don't, that is a problem. I think Trump is at the core of the problem, but on this issue Trump is beside the point... Sharyl & Clifton

When any network or station airs a promo, they are saying the exact same thing multiple times a week. You can argue that companies shouldn't do promos, but that's a little different--and all news organizations I know of do them.
