For a company that are supposed to be communications masters, who at corporate didn’t think thru how this might be perceived? Conan mashups being the tip to Big Brother media. Strategy of local non-biased/honesty failed. Reeks of corporate control, given must run clips awareness.

Did you read the article? I don't see another way to distribute national promos other than to, well, distribute national promos. All networks do national/local promotional campaigns. One could edit any of them together to try to make it seem strange (but they only did Sinclair.)
-
Yes, I did read your article. Even a quick lead in HQ statement, ala “We have a policy of unbiased reporting at Sinclair. Here are your local team members to explain how we intend to combat fake news on social media.” would have helped. To me, promo aspect was lost given distrust
-
You could be right. But let's keep in mind there is an orchestrated campaign to stir up dust as Sinclair prepares to acquire Tribune stations, so dust will likely be stirred whatever they do.
-
My personal perspective is the concentration of media ownership/power/market dominance, like the concentration of banking & finance power/market dominance is to great & anti-competitive. Autos/Energy/Chemicals and other industries are also similarly affected.

It was sad to see our local Fox in the Mash Up. Disgusting!

Sinclair is telling people not to trust social media sources, when social media is the last bastion of free speech.
-
Did you read the article? Sinclair didn't "tell people" not to trust social media sources. The promo said, "The sharing of biased and false news has become all too common on social media." Lefties and righties have been saying this for 2 years. Do you now disagree?
-
It's a continuation of the mantra that we can only trust mainstream media, when the opposite is true.

Insinuating that something as innocuous as a corporate message disseminated throughout the many outlets it has is “Orwellian” is yet another sign of Trump Derangement Syndrome. Give me a break!

I've been laughing at it all. My right friends are sharing it on FB as if its proof of left wing media. Lefties on twitter are doing same

For me, the message was good, but the parroting looks bad. Perhaps if it had been presented as a Sinclair Creed or Our Reporting Promise so that the corporate aspect was acknowledged right up front.
