There is a small percentage of people who closely monitor the weather... every where else....

I generally look outside to check on the weather. :) But apart from those traveling, yes, it is more important locally. Otherwise if I didn't turn the TV on how would I know whether to put on a sweater or a t-shirt..... :)

We live in Seattle area - it's amazing how many words the WeatherFolk have for rain! Thank you, Sharyl, for remaining steady and sane. Our respect grows daily for your reporting. AND we now loaning out our copies of

I use my phone or a local weather channel to see radar. I stopped watching local news a couple of years ago. It was too depressing.

I find myself not watching local news as much as I have in years past because of a leftist agenda. Even the weather has a leftist tilt. They go off on climate change or what have you and if it is natural climate change fine but man made then I start having a problem with it.

Haven't watched news in years. You have to sit through 20 min of commercials to see 60 sec of weather. I have an app on my phone, much better

Non local weather reporting is there to convince you that climate change is real. Most of that reporting lacks historical context on purpose.

I love the weather alerts scrolling at the bottom of the screen warning everyone that it's about to rain. It seems like the media are trying to scare us into watching..."there could be flash flooding, dangerous lightning (there's safe lightning?) and high winds."

Roy Leep is the best of the best. (He inspired me to seek a position in the weather field during my time in the military.)

Weather, sadly is the only scientific observation most people ever make.

I tune in to national weather because of friends I have in other locations - and an element of curiosity - in places I lived!

Very true...I watch the Local morning news for a bit until the 10 day forecast is shown, then I know the rest is

True, yet the national news insists on playing up any storm that affects NYC.

Makes me absolutely crazy when national news is forecasting a huge storm for NYC and those of us in sunny FL or pretty much 45 other states don’t give a care.

Weather and sports dominate local news. Traffic as well if it's a morning newscast. The rest is crime, breaking fires, jobs news, local and state politics, consumer news. Small block for national news.
