I doubt anyone could truly find the origins of that phrase. I have heard it used for years. But only mainstream lately of course. Why does @realDonaldTrump constantly berate the press and claim fake news? I'm innocently asking as I haven't asked you before.
I found the origins of the phrase in its modern usage (did you watch the TEDx talk? It wasn't that hard to trace in the end. It was introduced as a propaganda campaign in Sept. 2016 ahead of the effort rolled out to control/filter social media/internet.
I'm sorry I have heard the phrase for years. Fake News and Propaganda are hand in hand synonymous terms. He certainly wasn't the first one to have propaganda thrown at them. Why does he use it constantly and same for Collusion/russia...if not guilty why protest too much?
It's amazing how many people think they've heard it for years when they haven't. Maybe you have; maybe not :) Can you find me a popular citation from pre-2016 where it's used in this context? I'd like to see it.
This basically echoes what my research found. iT was introduced in its modern context in Sept 2016 (and flooded the popular media shortly thereafter, after President Obama helped publicize the effort). Thanks...
Why don't you watch the TEDx talk and then you can criticize it better? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQcCIzjz9_s … Also, I doubt you would claim the media hasn't made many, many irresponsible errors/false reporting etc. and I doubt you would claim the Obama admin. didn't
