When it reached 60,180 it then rolled back to 60,053 and took ages to accumulate any new views. Finally it reached 60,064 only to roll back again to 60,055. Can you check this out?

Google: why youtube views decrease There are a few stories out there. I think there's an innocent explanation that might have to do with very short views that an algorithm comes by and determines not to be a "view".
-
I'd like to think so but based on my experience, the metrics in general are off. Never before has a mention on Drudge resulted in almost no bump. Usually that's good for a million ;) (I'm told it's called turning down the throttle when they want to slow a video's popularity.)
-
That I'd absolutely agree with. Drudge should drive the views skyward. I was more so looking at the decrease, not why the vid didn't skyrocket. You think they just stalled the pipeline so people got frustrated waiting for the load and just left?

It's hard to say. I'm not technical enough to understand how that works. For example for fun I watch Tweet impressions sometimes. Most work normally. Once in awhile, I watch one consistently go wildly backwards in real time. Maybe a mistake but it seems to happen on popular ones.

Good questions. These techno-distribution sites have a lot of power. And the most important aspect of any tangible or intangible product is distribution.

Those screenshots weren't anything like what I saw on youtube. Looked just like you did at the talk.
