It would be great if someone did a follow up story on these cases. This child is probably a freshman in college somewhere. It was a huge story in Cleveland 18 years ago. Judge Patricia Cleary stopped imprisoned mom from killing unborn child.http://www.ncregister.com/site/article/jailed_abortion_seeker_gives_birth_then_sues …

That’s incredibly sad! I’m glad that she gave him or her the gift of life. Less and less women these days allow even that option for unwanted children. That judge was in the wrong. There are plenty of parents who want children and could have taken the baby for themselves to love.

Why are authorities looking for her? They don’t hunt down women who visit an abortion clinic, nor do they post video of her to the public.

I was a nurse at a Catholic hospital where there was also a home for unwed mothers. The babies born there were adopted through Catholic Charities. I wish there were more places like that today! Mothers were housed, received prenatal care and had their adoptions...

taken care of. I had a personal friend who went through the process. This is much better option for women who don’t want to have an abortion.

How can you refuse to allow someone to put their child up for adoption?

@SharylAttkisson, now I want to know what became of them too. It would make a very interesting follow up report. - 1 more reply

Today, many states have Safe Haven laws in which mothers can leave newborns at fire stations or hospitals without consequence. The babies are then open for adoption. This seems like a much more humane system than what happened to the mother you described.

Exactly. Just let her give up the baby and find him/her a loving home.

This troubled girl had the good sense to leave him somewhere safe and public, so he could be helped. The last thing we should do is force someone to take a child they can’t/don’t want to love..

Total idiocy! Judges give abused babie back to the parents that abused them, WTH! I’ve seen it. Normal babies that are shaken and are brain damaged are given back. Disgusting! Pray for those little souls

What a horrible judge! Hopefully DSS kept track of the child but they have let some children fall through the cracks.

This is a lame Govt policies, wish we’d change it. When parents don’t have the skills or desire let thier kids go to adoption better in the long run
