As a child growing up on Long Island in the 50s there was an abandoned army reserve camp !! It was a place where they worked on vehicles ! There were a ton of jars with this jittery silver stuff in them mercury had a ball with that stuff !! 60 yrs ago

Locked out of house in morning to play outside until lunch. Drank from hose. Placed pennies on train tracks and once flattened by train drilled hole in them and stung then with twine for necklaces. Strung walnuts with shoe string for walnut fights.

We used to play with Mercury in school. Now, one drop and they call HAZMAT and 5 Fire trucks!

Oh my gosh! We used to go to a local garage and collect the mercury off the lot. Made rafts and floated down the streams after a heavy rain

Haha- we played with liquid mercury, too, as kids! No adults warned us about its dangers! We had FUN, more carefree childhoods!

Haha, tho am not a real hillbilly- just grew up in the '60s halfway across world (Philippines)! But MAYBE we were all hillbillies then!
