FBI Deputy Director txting on a govt owned device thinking its secret sounds like incompetence. Am I missing something?

My take is that they never worried anybody in a position of authority would care, or would disagree with their thoughts.

No, what I'm saying is that the release happened to Congress and the media at the same time.

I think they were turned over to the Justice Dept or FBI inspector general who is investigating the FBI Clinton email investigation and phony dossier. I have a feeling we will all be shocked at the depths of corruption when it all comes out.

Some are reporting that the texts were leaked first to Fox news,, forcing the IG to formally release them to Congress. Apparently, IG Horowitz has had them since at least the summer, and never intended to hand them over.

No, they didn't turn in devices. Read the letter from Inspector General Horowitz explaining in detail how it went down: https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/2017-12-13%20DOJ%20IG%20to%20Grassley,%20Johnson%20-%20Strzok%20Text%20Messages.pdf …
