I don't think it only recent. I think it goes back to the 13 and 14th centuries and is increasing. Look at the geniuses over the last 800 years. All considered a little different. In recent times, Edison, Curie, Einsten, Oppenhiemer, Gates, Jobs. All high functioning.

It’s recent; since the 1930s. The symptoms are unique, and were introduced in medical literature during that time. The vast majority affected are not ‘geniuses’ but non-verbal with many severe GI issues. The ties to Einstein, etc are a way to normalize the disorder.

I don't agree

You don’t agree yet you’re comfortable diagnosing people you’ve never met?
-
Im not diagnosing anything. I'm throwing out an idea. I didn't say I didn't agree, like any hypothesis you need to challenge the assumptions. Some people claim environmental issues, genetics, immunizations etc etc. Just a discussion and getting peoples inputs.
-
Environmental issues and vaccines are the same thing. And it must be environmental because there is no such thing as a genetic epidemic.
-
I'm sorry they are totally unrelated. And genetic mutations happen over generations and autism is not classified as an epidemic. Your beliefs appear more emotional and political then scientific.

Not 200 years. Hans Asperger introduced the modern sense of the word autism in 1938.

I missed most of this topic today, but do think there's a possibility between vaccines and the high rate of autism? Have you ever heard of a connection?

I think we're on the first generation of a serious evolutionary re-wiring of our brains. We've been calling it autism because we love our labels.

Cut it out we did not evolve, on a rock that if moved any direction we die and u think it's not by Gods hands?

You need to carefully state your premise about evolutionary change. The change is generational. So, est humans reproduce apx 18 yoa. But viruses and bacteria reproduce perhaps 18 HOURS. :-)

Not evolutionary, simpler explanation is that modern society recognizes and rewards thinkers, and thinkers tend to be solitary and follow their thoughts, not other people...definitely not imitators...which gets labeled “autism spectrum”.

Micro-evolution: change within a species, is happening all the time. The Hobokens became neither more nor less human through this "evolution." No evidence for macro-evolution or from one species into another.

It is thought that evolution can speed up in times of environmental stress.
