Of course. My point was prevalence today is inflated by a widening net. Assuming increases in reporting = increased cases is suspect.

If there’s no real increase in ASD, then where are all the existing facilities to house and educate all these victims? Hint: they don’t exist because the need wasn’t there. Autism (heavy metal toxicity) is man-made.

Or, maybe, people like myself just had to struggle a bit more in regular school and people on far end of spectrum were assumed severely retarded and institutionalized. Probably a better situation for people in my boat and much worse for others.

Yeah, no. Mental retardation and autism have totally different symptoms. A child can completely recover from autism, but not mental retardation.

I'm speculating about back in the day before autism was common. Those mistaken for retarded would have been the very severe cases Sharyl was mentioning. It's just a theory regarding huge increase in diagnosis.

No. Completely different symptoms. Autistic symptoms are UNIQUE (yet similar to mercury poisoning & mad-hatters) and were not noted by medical literature. ASD kids can recover with mercury removal. Look into it
