It’s a good thing we now (in 2017) regularly wash our hands, refrigerate our food, don’t allow horses to fill the streets with manure, have indoor plumbing then and drink clean water. Not much of these things were commonplace in 1918.
-
none of those things except hand washing would have helped and with 5000 ppl working in 1 building ppl living in clusters when back then everyone was living further apart in rural farm settings likely it would be worse. the 1918 flu reached deep in jungles and the arctics.

Hand washing is a pretty big thing. People today are better nourished which gives us stronger immune systems as well.

What about the tidal upsurge in food allergies which are definitely related to immune systems?
