I've largely been offline.. when the Amtrak crash first happened I thought there was a radio transmission that said they hit a truck. Now, no mention of it. Did they rule that out?

I heard that as well in a report. You are not dreaming. But again may be the usual jump to report first without the facts.

Nope. It was real

A different Amtrack train hit the back trailer of a truck outside San Marcos, TX. Nobody on train injured, don't know about the driver of the truck.

No, the hitting a truck was stated by the person from the railroad group. I believe he is a government employee that was on the train (he sent out a tweet). Others also said the same thing. It appears to be getting covered up for some reason.

The mention you are looking for is at 10:40 am in this report https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/the-latest-train-cars-hanging-over-the-overpass/2017/12/18/7b35fd18-e416-11e7-927a-e72eac1e73b6_story.html?utm_term=.a7a524d0adfd …

The photos show the engine that went off the track and onto the freeway below came to a stop in contact with a semi. Contact with the truck was the outcome, not the cause.

Only explanation I can think of is that he just thought they did when it was actually just the cars jumping track.?
