I mean, that's not what you're saying... but in terms of things we need as a species... good vaccines are tops on the list. :)

Very true. Plus, blanket statements are ALWAYS bad.

-
Yep. On both sides. But basic biology and the history of successful vaccines lead us to conclude that the overall notion of vaccines is for the betterment of mankind. I don't believe in the malicious evil mad scientists poisoning us. Occam's Razor, after all. :)
-
Fair enough.
-
I don't believe in malicious mad scientists either, that's sort of a red herring in a way. To the extent there is a problem with all the facts getting out, it's a function of money not evil-ness.
-
It's almost always about money, for sure. And we as a nation (and as a species) need not be complacent when it comes to these things. It helps as always, to be informed... and to weed out the chaff like Alex Jones and so forth.

Absolutely. when I refer to vaccines I am thinking of the major, decades-long tested ones like influenza, measles, mumps, etc. New ones and largely untested ones need more time to percolate. :) Vaccines eliminated smallpox. And Polio. So we can't discredit all of them.
-
Or proper hygiene eliminated smallpox. Do some research
-
Soap did not end smallpox. George Washington began vaccinating his troops vs smallpox during the revolution... not giving them baths.

I'm sure the gay frog epidemic is more of a problem to those sorts of folks. :)
