I think the truest tenet of science is that it is always evolving and changing. Quite often wrong and in debate. So when you hear somebody say "the science is settled" they are being quite unscientific, indeed, and (I would argue) are often serving an interest. https://twitter.com/1219ddenney/status/937078340716056576 …

Science is always evolving, changing. There is nothing ever “settled.” Information is limited to the length of time records have been kept vs. the history of the earth.

But the science of vaccines is settled, in fact mandatory.

When they say "the science is settled", they mean "we have all checked the available evidence, and we all agree on what it means". They do not mean their minds cannot be changed if new evidence is found, and they do not stop gathering evidence. #AskAScientist

Science is based on theories. Some prove wrong and none are ironclad, in my opinion.

“Settled science” is an oxymoron. Like “conditional love”.

You can make something like that same point with respect to the term "settled law"--Only more so--At least SOME science can be said to be settled--The existence of something we call gravity, for instance.

In essence, the science itself may not change, but our understanding of it constantly changes. Humans constitute many of the variables here.

If it's not reproducible, it's not science. So much of what passes for "science" is pseudoscience.
