It would cost exponentially more money which the U.S. would have to contribute. Solar & wind only work when there are government subsidies

But i think the govt is going to subsidize most everything there now

Hey broadcasting is as good as/better than cable. :) Watch my program every Sunday. Look at http://www.fullmeasure.news under "about" for partial listing. We are growing each week. Watch replays anytime online http://www.fullmeasure.news

Solar sounds good but unless you can retract panels for the next hurricane it's a waste. What they need to do is put lines underground.

Aren’t solar panels particularly vulnerable to hurricanes?
-
Possibly but it's hard to believe the tech doesn't exist to create a way to protect during hurricane. If we really tried and wanted to. Hard to imagine that this day in age it's impossible to reliably get energy from sun.
-
I hear you/don’t disagree, but a hurricane is a torrent of flying projectiles, many capable of rendering solar panels useless.

Solar energy takes a lot of acreage to generate enough power to supply the need of a major city. When the next big storm comes it's all gone

And take this opportunity to BURY power lines instead of putting them back up in the air on sticks??
-
Problem with that is flooding. Much harder to find the problem and fix then poles. Also storm surge salt water would decimate it
-
Gotcha. Thanks !

I encourage you investigate solar thoroughly. There is nothing green about it. From material supply chain to toxic waste in manufacturing

Solar is too expensive and would not provide nearly enough power to satisfy the immediate needs.
-
That is not True! We have USA companies that can assist will rebuilding the grid with renewable energy.
-
Solar and Wind are not efficient and cannot come close to competing with standard methods without massive government subsidies.

Solar is highly inefficient in energy conversion to electricity. Coal fired energy plants are the best/least expensive energy way to go.
-
Nuclear or fusion is actually better but the political climate just will never permit...
-
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Martin_Compact_Fusion_Reactor … Lockheed’s fusion powered, trailer size reactor (portable) is coming along nicely. Little more time.
