RT if you think any new health care bill should be openly, publicly discussed as it's built so everybody knows what's being put in it.

Not while they are negotiating but after the law is written. We think we want to see it being made...Trust me, you don't.

If ever I did, it's for this bill. why is everyone saying it would never get done? Maybe they're right but we have to ask why that is

I agree, but in this Climate progress would be impossible w/ media taking negotiating lines out to the public. As you know it's a process.

Most bills are presented completely written. At that point they should be fully published and discussed.

Problem is once they're written so much is in stone and written by lobbyists (literally) for reasons we'll never figure out or deconstruct

You are right that lobbyists write most bills, Cruz the lawyer being an exception. He writes his own. I hold out hope some are honest people

I cringe to think of the immense amount of debate and false statements that would occur minute by minute if the writing were open.

Perhaps. But I personally would like the chance to figure out what companies/lobbyists are writing in which provisions for what reason.

Of course. Let the leads write it then comment, revision. 1 week before vote is not great I agree. Waiting for FM at 11 ET 😀

Discussing it is meaningless while they cook it up. It should come out, be seen & voted up or down on the merits.

It'll never get done if a starting point isn't set to be debated. Let's see what Reps bring to the table. Too many cooks spoil the recipe.
