1/This is the root of America’s deepest problem. It robs others of their experience & it ignores history. The idea that “we are fine” and rabble rousers are stirring it up. We are not fine. @SharylAttkisson you're an investigative journalist let’s investigate your theory.https://twitter.com/SharylAttkisson/status/1033868041224900608 …

I felt it was because of the "most people are fine" "outside of the cities" remark. I just don't understand the benefit of excluding certain communities from the conversation to force a "most things are fine" narrative.
@fivefifths responded to this more thoughtfully than I. -
But if your point is that people are surviving and thriving despite many barriers, finding community and living full lives even when the odds are against them, I'll buy that. I just didn't really read what you were saying that way.
-
that's what I meant. and the barriers are many-- yet we do quite well. often with the help of our neighbors and friends and community who are not necessarily like us in many ways.

Hi Sharyl. I’m outside of any city, and I go outside, away from the internet, every day. I’m who you’re talking about. Let me inform you what it’s like: - Old white conservatives being racist - Business owners being racist - Conspiracy theories taken seriously
-
I can’t fathom why you believe that the internet and offline are two separate existences. I’ve been told to my face in public in a rural town that the KKK needs to make a comeback to deal with “the black problem” in a town that’s 98.7% white.
-
But hey, you resorted immediately to playing the victim instead of accepting criticism. So feel free to say I’m the real racist now too.

You have not addressed the deeper issue of your original tweet: have you *actually* talked to a representative group of people who are not white to determine if they are 'fine' or have you just drawn that conclusion from what you generally see and hear in your daily life?
