Exactly why has colleges gone up so much? In the 80’s it seemed Professors we’re making 100 to 150 k , and college was affordable then. How much are they paid now? Who is profiting?

I addressed some of this in my
@FullMeasureNews reporting: http://fullmeasure.news/news/cover-story/degree-of-debt … But in the end, as long as students can/will fill colleges paying the $ with help of federally backed assistance, then it continues. -
Thank you, will read this now!

Govt subsidizing tuition gives zero incentive to keep tuition affordable.

Is Bernie saying that the teachers and administrators should all be unpaid? Will contractors donate their time to maintain the buildings? If Bernie was honest he wouldn't use the word "free". Instead he would say we need to raise taxes.

As if the government and the left didn’t cause the rise in the first place. How many Vice Presidents for Diversity and Inclusion were there in 1980? How many “X Studies” classes?

One reason is all the federal regulations laws commissions etc we have to deal with and report to on a daily basis. Do a graph of increased regs to tuition increases and headcount in compliance depts and you’ll see trend.
-
Also schools are not preparing kids so look at growth of classes to bring students up to college level readiness tutoring centers etc. it all adds to cost and increase staff which drives up cost

Community colleges, commuter campuses of prominent universities, & trade schools are low cost alternatives; they’re widely available now. If students and parents choose high-priced universities, presumably they have the means to support that decision. Taxpayers shouldn’t.

So, let me get this straight ... the price of college tuition skyrockets and now the taxpayers should flip the bill?! Maybe we should treat universities like you guys treat big business.

I’m going to use the Milton Friedman line when talking about health insurance...You think it’s expensive now, wait till they give it to you for nothing.

Obama creates the problem by nationalizing student loans & creating piggy bank from which colleges can steal. Now, typically, government wants to fix the problem it created.

Everytime government gets involved with funding costs go up. When whatever is being funded discovers the bottomless pit of taxpayer funding they lose all fiscal control.

What Bernie fails to understand is this one fact... nothing is free.

College is a scam! In bed with govt loans. Nothing but required fluff courses to prop up liberal professors and their departments! Get rid of this crap, focus on major specific courses, and costs and attendance time will be cut in half.

Don’t forget the gov’t increases tuition every time they increase Pell grants. Then universities increase tuition knowing Pell grant increases will follow. It’s a vicious circle.
