And you learned this in journalism school, which clearly illustrates how pompous the school & their students are - to think so lowly of their "audience" that y'all need to dumb it down for us. Is this deja vu? I recall a certain former Sec. of State belittling the American ppl.

Not what I said and not what I meant.
-
* Not what I said, nor meant. ** I am not a Journalist, for my written English is horrible and that is why I became an Engineer, BUT: I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night!

-
1. "Not what I said and not what I meant" is clear and appropriate. 2. I use Twitter informally. 3. I clearly need a room at the Holiday Inn Express.

You really think people don't know that word???
-
I do. I didn't do a scientific study mind you but just asking a bunch of people younger than me. A few kind of guessed but weren't sure. Most didn't know.
-

-
Exactly! Same here. Watch for my next tweet about "Drink the Kool-Aid"

-
With all due respect, Butch said you were insulting. He didn't say he was insulted. There IS a difference.

I didn't say your kids wouldn't know it. I don't think most do. I could be wrong. My own informal survey said it's not commonly known.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

One of the things I was taught in J-School. No Jargon...
-
Me too. Sometimes we forget though what constitutes jargon because we hear it so much and forget to get out of our own skin.
