Saying "vaccines save billions of lives" while trying to shut down discussion of adverse events and possible improvements is silly and propagandistic. Medicine "saves billions of lives" but not all medicine is safe for all people. It's just a fact.https://twitter.com/rdeh20/status/1006745155238551552 …

I have no words. You have people calling HepB an STD. This is the type of bullshit that fuels antivaxers. Vaccines are the greatest gift to healthcare ever, saving billions of lives. I used to respect Sharyl, but no more https://twitter.com/sharylattkisson/status/1006739184801984512 …

Except that no medicine can ever be 100% safe. In fact nothing can be, yet we still have to go about our day and take the most practical and safe options we can. When the choice is between vaccination and the possibility of serious disease, vaccination wins every time.

I think vaccination is important but I do agree a better look needs to be taken. I had a total of 2 vaccination shots - 1 and then a booster. Today kids get how many? Are they necessary?

But at what point would people say "okay, that's enough looking into it now, it's fine". What people don't realise is that vaccines, as with everything else in the world of medicine, is constantly being refined and improved upon. So..what is it you're saying they should be doing?

...vaccinate them differently so they don't die or suffer brain damage etc. And for everyone else, continue to improve vaccines so that we can reduce adverse events as much as possible. Constant study is important in something that most all of us put in our bodies.

Yeah, and everything can be improved upon, constantly. But we don't wait around for some unknown mythical time in the future where there are no more improvements to be made. Such a time doesn't exist. But as it stands now, the benefits of vaccines far outweigh the risks.

Which vaccine? Oral polio? The government disagrees. HepB? Maybe not at birth for all babies. HPV? Definitely not for some. Maybe when proven in the future--yes but we won't know its effectiveness until first study group reaches ovarian cancer age according to the lead researcher

I don't know who that lead researcher is, but they don't need to wait until ovarian cancer age, because the vaccine protects against against the virus itself, and they can and do test for that virus, and the abnormalities it causes.

Are you confusing cervical and ovarian cancer? The HPV vaccine is to prevent cervical cancer (which is generally caused by HPV, but not always). The cause of ovarian cancer is unknown.

Sorry, yes....I was quoting what Sharyl said. She confused me. At any rate, the vaccine protects against the virus, and not the cancer directly (which is impossible)
