Upside: almost no crime. Downside: limits on freedom.

But Singapore is a police state is it not?

It's like the Disney World of cities especially when compared to its neighbors like KL, Jakarta, Bangkok.

A place where average citizens cannot own a car and the state owns the homes and let's people lease them on its own terms... Ya, nirvana.

My friend goes to Singapore often. I was surprised at her stories about the incredibly low crime rate. I believe it's lower than Japan's!
-
It's also amazing considering its immediate neighbors. I spend time in Sing and Jakarta and the two cities couldn't be more different.

Curry over udon sounds delicious! I've only been to Japan once and that was Tokyo. We did eat fairly well but didn't have enough time to really explore.

Two more of my favorite spots. I think Rome is slightly better because there are more places BUT you have to stay away from the big tourist spots. We stayed in a residential neighborhood on one trip and ate VERY well.

To this day one of the best things I've ever eaten was baked pecorino and prosciutto at a place called Tattoria D-Anita.
