I realize a lot of folks are hepped up about @TheJusticeDept Inspector General. And a lot of good people work there. But some bad people work there, too. Like the ones who still will not legally answer my FOI on my own computer intrusion case... 1/?

DOJ/DOJ OIG sees itself as not only above the law, but the embodiment of it. There is no transparency over their actions. Two reforms are needed, 1) Congress must repeal most FOIA exemptions, 2) the Judiciary must protect the 1st Amdt rights of employees to disclose misconduct.
-
FOIA exemptions allow the govt to redact internal deliberations, including claiming attorney/client privilege when DOJ attorneys are representing the U.S. It is inconceivable that the attorneys for the people can use a privilege claim to conceal their actions from their client.
-
DOJ OIG has every interest in concealing internal deliberations/silencing whistleblowers and 1st Amdt speech of employees, otherwise their own failures could be exposed to the public. An independent judiciary must be able to review agency actions to protect us from them.

Anyone that follows
@JudicialWatch knows the DOJ is still obstructing. FOIA's have been ignored as a general rule for a long time. I think the correct term for this is SNAFU as this is almost the new normal. Let's un-normal this law-breaking Justice Dept. -- we the people I mean. - 1 more reply

Legal investigations and criminal stuff is exempt from the Freedom Of Information Act . Do you want every criminal to FOIA request information on their case before trail ?
-
Perhaps you are unaware, but defendants are entitled to know everything the government knows. So yes, FOIA should be available. Problem is the government uses these arguments to cover up it’s violations. Transparency is a must.

Exactly.. Big fish are never prosecuted because virtually everyone in Washington has dirt on somebody else.. "If you rat me out, I'll rat you out".. This can only change with if there's new blood in our government.. Blood that isn't tainted or compromised.
-
Yes, that is true.

Honestly, this is why the second amendment exists. Once the tyranny goes beyond a certain point the people have the voting booth to try and change their government, but when the opposing party won't concede the election results we move closer to the alternative, the 2nd.
