Guess what? Every student makes a difference to many private schools, too.

In a free society, you don't deny choices about raising and forming children to preserve a government monopoly.
You don't imprison people to secure a system.

Rep Ciresi doesn't support all students - just district students. The PFT platform is adamantly opposed to any funding mechanism that provides alternatives to children. He is "happy to stand with" those who would deny any and all educational refuge to children.🤨

The fight is real. But worth it for our kids. Make no mistake - those opposed to education choice aren't thinking of kids first. 😥

When charter schools fall, it won’t be the fault of children and parents, it will be on the hands of those in power who have repeatedly ignored our calls to organize and protect our children in charter schools. @charteralliance @chartercollab - the attack continues. twitter.com/mnupnorthlakeg…

Anti-school choice translation
"But then they'll all leave!!!" 🤯
No solutions offered, like🛑zip code designation, or offering innovative transportation & programming alternatives...
Some just want our kids to stay no matter the cost - to our kids' education and lives.
NOPE.

Anti-cyber charter agenda:
1- Make it impossible for cyber charters to operate
2- Students are forced to private or homeschool, or back to district
3- District retains ALL FUNDING - even for Ss who don't step foot in district buildings
IT'S ABOUT TAKING AWAY OPTIONS FOR KIDS.

Intercom system, electronic locks, double doors, log in, Raptor system currently & widely used, at minimum.
Next step - background checks for all parents to be permitted on school property.
This isn't about child safety. It's about territoriality.

Grateful for this family. A husband who supports me in advocacy whole-heartedly. Six daughters willing to not only volunteer for the day, but shop, organize and co-run the event with me - and keep me (somewhat) sane. School choice IS ALL ABOUT FAMILY.

When a high school student who is behind in credit accumulation because the district failed to educate them enters a cyber charter, they will be deemed a non-graduate even if they earn a diploma. Many students are so far behind it takes them more than 4 years to graduate.

"Pro-student"??? 🤨
Not for the 170,000 PA charter students

Our local elected officials, from both parties, from every corner of the state, from every type of district, have spoken clearly: we need charter school reform. This session. I plan to continue my push for that comprehensive, pro-student, pro-taxpayer reform. twitter.com/pacharterchang…

And as long as you can afford to live in an area that has quality public schools and not one redlined for failure from the jump. Let’s not forget that critical part.

Not all parents have the knowledge and perseverence to navigate this system.
Where is the transparency and accountability?

1/My son who is 5 didn't have the words to tell us that an Instructional Assistant hurt him when he was at school and left bruises on his arm pits.
His behavior changed, & he did not want to go to school, when I asked his teacher...
She blamed it on a change of schedule...

Homeschoolers represent 11% of K-12 — that’s a statistically significant political population.
All it took was for parents to be with their children — something anyone can do.
Who knew that the simple act of homeschooling could be so powerful.

I'm telling you - parents don't WANT to move their child from the school they know, teachers they love, or friends they've made unless they ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO.
We don't do it for fun.
We do it for RELIEF.

There's only a district fund balance limit IF tax⬆️is sought. MANY districts have fund balances in 20%-30%+ range.

PASBO "...defended the need for districts to have fund balances...'to ensure stability and consistency...for all student programs and services.'"
Same for charters. They saved many kids' educations during the pandemic thanks to those balances.

It's not about what society needs, it's about what the child needs and the parents are the best experts on their children.
We aren't "dark money operatives", puppets, or "radical privatizers". We are PARENTS who simply want the true freedom to direct our child's education. To provide them with the best educational environment. To collaborate with our educators. It's not a conspiracy. It's LOVE.

How will you “empower” parents of IDEA eligible students to ensure their child(ren) have access to, & receive, Free Appropriate Public-funded Education that the federal IDEA “guarantees”?
must include parents in shaping policy for our MOST vulnerable children.

There’s no way that our children, many of whom have gone to magnet, charter, vo tech, vo ag, interdistrict choice, home and micro schools, are limiting our grandkids to the school at the end of the street. The #statusquo is dying and won’t make it past our grandkids.

An antiquated view of education. This might have been necessary decades upon decades ago, but not any longer. Education should not compete with or try to replace family.

Children are still scared to return to school. This year I had to pay for private online school, and it is a struggle over $4,000.00 on top of our School Taxes. I'm paying and the whole family is going without so I could pay for my children's education that should be free. 1/2

This student was identified as having severe behavioral needs. Strained special Ed services in this school. My guess is that the district was under pressure from the school board to keep him in-district rather than a special behavioral school to save $.

As I also experienced, parents canNOT depend on school districts. Children are being left behind in school with lifetime repercussions.
Kids need more options. Demand it, parents.
It's not just about now, but also our future (grand)children.
