One night in emerg, a patients family member was yelling at me and being very aggressive. An RN was paying attention, and called security, who arrived just as the family member grabbed both my arms and pushed me into a wall.

I was a medical student the first time I had to pronounce a patient, and I completely froze. The bedside RN said “Why don’t you start listening to the heart for one minute while I get a flashlight for you to check their pupils?” in the kindest, most helpful way possible

There is an LPN on the unit I work most often who includes residents and medical students in his comfort rounds, bringing them water and cookies at the work stations

On my first day of residency, I ruined my shoes during a code (don’t ask). A unit RN went to the emerg and got me new shoes to wear for the rest of my 26 hour call shift so I didn’t have to wear my ruined shoes.

I was told it was hearing. My story, my partner was close to passing on, told her I loved her, she mouthed the same back to me, crossed over 45 mins later. Her nurses were fantastic care givers, and I will always back nurses 100 per cent.
