Currently, public sub counts are abbreviated in most but not all places across YouTube. In August, we’ll make this more consistent by always showing abbreviated sub counts publicly. Creators: You’ll still see your full sub count in Studio! Learn more → http://yt.be/help/abbrev-count …pic.twitter.com/pmaKk4EU4k

Because it’s fuckimg pointless and obfuscates already available information. People want to see their fucking sub count.

Just because people like it doesn't mean it's a good idea. The only reason I can think of that people turn to exact sub counts is in relation to cancel culture, and turning that into an event of drama. Why does the public need to see an exact count other than that?

Creator exposer. People check out content creators based on several factors, including sub count. If you minimize it you could stunt the growth of YouTube channels be obfuscating the number of suns by several thousands.

Do you sub to channels because they're already large? I'm sorry to be so blunt, but that's pretty dumb. The only way you wouldn't be seeing a difference in thousands would be channels that have already grown past the million mark. You should be subbing based on merit: not count.

yeah look we get it you have a big brain not everybody does so while it may not affect you as a viewer, it'll affect creators because of other people who exist, which was the original point

third parties also no longer have immediate access to that information which affects sponsor deals and other business collaborations almost like this is bad for creators

How does this change affect engagement metrics? Sponsorships aren't based on sub counts. They're bases on engagement metrics, sub counts only being a very small part of that. Those deals usually take weeks to finalize. Seems like you want to be mad. Dont let me get in your way...
