also: valuing the pursuit of knowledge does not necessarily mean devaluing people who don't have that knowledge, or don't need it/want it! Not everything is binary. And I realize sometimes intellectuals, even the good ones, can be snobby. Not me obviously I rule but you know

I realize saying this in our little corner of twitter is paramount to pissing into the wind, as this site and the culture it encourages does not always grant us the space to do this. Just occasionally, especially with your comrades, try to give eachother the benefit of the doubt

it can be EXTREMELY satisfying, and often morally righteous, to call out and dismiss people whom we have fundamental ideological disagreements with. But so much training in this behavior sometimes makes it difficult for us to actually have real conversations with eachother

anti-intellectualism is the domain of brutality & barbarism. when we are angry at the particularities of constructed educational/intellectual institutions, let us make sure to not be accidentally playing into the hands of those who seek to undermine the value of intellect itself

I think its good for the left to value intellectual inquiry, the development and distribution of thought, theory & praxis, and the general project of both childhood and adult education
