"If we knew everything we know today, we would have shut schools down a lot less than we did." We knew enough by mid-2020. If we don't acknowledge this, we can't address the structural factors that led to us *knowingly* implementing this harmful and regressive policy.

On schools: I doubt any current official, who was in charge during the pandemic, will acknowledge this. It's going to take new governors/representatives/presidents to acknowledge past mistakes and offer apologies. On everything else, I doubt anyone's ever going to admit error.
