My paper "School in the time of Covid" is now published! It's not timely and won't be as widely read as the terrific op ed pieces on this topic over the past 2 years. But I'm glad to contribute something to the academic record about this catastrophe. May it never be repeated.

I still think Elon knows what he's doing and is probably 10 steps ahead of everyone. If nothing else, when Twitter doesn't collapse everyone currently freaking out will have a renewed sense of how much they value it.

My remaining funds went to a second small batch mailer. I hope it conveys the vibrancy, hope & action I will bring to the role if I'm elected on Nov. 8. Thank you to all the everyday people of Berkeley who donated, supported me w/ their sweat labor & made this campaign possible!

Trump's CDC director held up a surgical mask and suggested it could be more protective than a vaccine and Biden's CDC director said masks can reduce chance of infection by more than 80%. Can we have a serious and sober conversation about the harms of exaggerating mask efficacy?

Very happy that my paper “School in the time of covid” is part of this special issue on public health ethics during the pandemic. I hope the volume inspires more critical analysis of pandemic policy from a range of academic fields.

IMO the article gives way too much credence to the idea that extended closures were necessary (they weren't - they had no measurable effect on the pandemic). But maybe that's intentional, if the aim is to unite progressives in repairing the damage done.

Must-read article for progressives from . Even those who think 1.5yr public school closures were necessary must reckon with the immense harm they inflicted on children, esp those most in need of the safety-net that public education provides>>

The principal of my kids’ school just said there’s a “parenting crisis” in Berkeley. Apparently we’re “not involved” enough. This after Berkeley parents homeschooled their kids for 1.5 yrs, while schools were shut and only provided ~50% of regular instructional hours by zoom. 😡

Reminding you of this paper by . He called extended school closures a moral catastrophe and Very Smart People were still mocking him, even as recently as this summer. link.springer.com/article/10.100
