I’m committed to supporting Bernie. That’s why I’m disappointed to witness attacks between some supporters of @BernieSanders and @ewarren. We can advance the movement by following their leads and embracing potential allies rather than attacking them. Thread. /1
We should respect the strategy demonstrated by both Bernie and Liz to stand together against centrists, instead of tearing out each other’s throats before the primary. They’ve consistently declined opportunities to attack each other in the debates. /2
There are legit critiques of Warren. I share them, while supporting her as someone following Bernie’s lead on domestic policy and reinforcing his vision & leadership. For instance, Liz stands well to Bernie’s right, especially on foreign policy. /3
And while Bernie was marching for civil rights, Warren was not. That’s why we support Bernie. But people can change. That’s true in the criminal justice arena, and it’s true whenever people grow as they learn, like Liz did. She says her scholarship drove her politicization. /4
Warren’s path to the Senate was positively badass: GOP Senators denied her the chance to lead the @CFBP that she effectively created, so she replaced one of them in an election and came back.
Imagine her saying, “How ya like me now?” /5
Warren is drawing support from the establishment because she's their last chance to save capital from the economic democracy that Bernie champions. Harris, Beto & Buttigieg have collapsed. Klobuchar is jazzercising. Biden is a time bomb. But Bernie has >1,000,000 supporters. /6
Warren’s rise to the top-tier of the field advances Bernie’s vision. We who support #Bernie2020 should recognize her momentum as an opportunity for Bernie to continue setting the national agenda.

Attacking Liz mistakes the nature of the threat. She may be drawing support from centrists trying to weaponize her to deflect the Left’s building momentum. But she could cement a progressive consensus. That's a massive political opportunity we should seize, not squander. /8
Focusing our fire on the rest of the field—which is clearly to both Bernie’s & Warren’s right—will narrow the race to a two-way contest. Once they’re the only candidates standing, Bernie & Warren will embody the anti-corporate, pro-worker consensus needed to derail fascism. /9
As a Bernie supporter, I try to be an ambassador for his ideas. It's much of why I'm running for Congress.
Attacking a possible ally does not build bridges. But Bernie needs all the bridges we can build. Don’t let your righteous anger at the system get in his way. #NotMeUs /10
