Thread Human rights documentation is never easy. It is particularly challenging in the context of intensifying conflict in Afg. Access is more challenging than even a few weeks ago, verification is difficult with witnesses & victims fearing reprisals,
concerns around colleagues’ security has increased. Misinformation wars r being waged. Both parties put pressure, subtle & obvious, on independent media & human rights orgs. In @AfghanistanIHRC we remain committed 2 our independent mandate & measures 4 safety of staff+witnesses
Sometimes it takes us a while to confirm reports of allegations as we verify facts & details. As atrocities increase, we won’t be able to document every case. We will do what we can to document & verify & record. I am inspired by courage of my colleagues at this difficult time.
