Instead of just rando celebrating Father’s Day let’s celebrate fathers who actively supported and enabled daughters to smash the patriarchy! I’ll go first: Billy Sothern; @SamSifton, @PostRowland, and @ShaharzadAkbar’s father (and I have never seen a prouder parent than he).

I count myself among the luckiest daughters. My father Ismail Akbar did not let war, poverty, patriarchy, oppressive govs, from fully & unconditionally supporting us every step of the way. He is my hero & his memory remains my moral compass.
