I am holding my son by the window, watching the lights of rain-washed Kabul & our street. My senses are filled with the smell of rain, kids’ laughter, and the beating of my son’s heart. I see a truck & suddenly I imagine that it will explode, hurting the kids, hurting us all.

This war has taken lives & livelihoods, but is also holding the minds & hearts of the living hostage, casting its shadow over all of our lives, giving us deep wounds that will be difficult to heal from. It must end or another generation will live forever wounded.

This is very poetic, Ms. Chairwoman. But we need action. Call the human rights orgs, build consensus, ask them to name the Taliban as the perpetrators, question the US embassy and Mr. Khalilzad why they dont name Taliban as the perpetrators of such acts, ....
