Can we describe a peace process in absence of victims’ rights as meaningful? Our mosques, hospitals, restaurants, educational centers have been scenes of civilian massacres & war crimes. Journalists, religious scholars, doctors have been intentionally targeted & killed.
When I think about the atrocities, the pain, the loss, & about civilians targeted & killed, tortured, disappeared, I don’t think an elite bargain can truly end this conflict & help us heal. To heal, we need to do more. We need to acknowledge our reality & ensure justice.
