On d Afg side, peace, firstly, requires the Taliban to be independent actors determined to end d bloodshed & willing to acknowledge a transformed Afg society, with Af women as actors & agents with equal rights to men, with active, critical media & independent civil society

It requires Af gov & political elite to commit to & succeed in building a strong & inclusive alliance in support of peace, a mission that is further complicated by recent developments. Af gov must also ensure d agenda 4 talks reflects demands & concerns of women, victims & youth

The road ahead will not be easy & we all have a responsibility towards a positive,sustainable outcome. We will certianly have setbacks, mistrust & frustration. But if anyone thought war was ever worth trying,we should try a thousand times more 2 end it & achieve lasting peace.
