Despite flaws & imperfections, @LoyaJirgaPeace provided an opportunity for Afghan women & men from different walks of life & diverse backgrounds to discuss important aspects of war & peace, create consensus & put forward recommendations.
It is a constant source of frustration that national political issues in Afghanistan are often, if not always, discussed just between "leaders" & behind closed doors. The Jirga was an opportunity for a larger group of Afghans to discuss country's present & future.
Another frustration specific 2 d peace process so far has been that d process seems so distant & unreal 2 Afs, as meetings r held outside of Af & in our absence & discussions in Af remain mainly in Kbl. Jirga was an effort 2 bring more Af voices from across d country to d process
Some highlights f Jirga resolution: ceasefire, preserving our republic & d fundmental rights of women & men, expressing strong support 4 security forces, call on enabling a Tbn office in Af, responsible withdrawal f international forces, an inclusive & effective negotiation team
The Jirga participants committed 2 advocating for peace in their communities.They can create a belt of advocates for peace in Afghanistan if d network is kept alive & engaged. This network can inform discussions & talks in various stages of the process.
