Abdullah Khenjani added,
I watched the report. He says peace with Taliban is not possible. His anger is understandable considering his multiple & backbreaking losses in this war, both due to US air strikes and Taliban attacks.https://youtu.be/E06f-HYKcHc
I do really respect his thought, however, I may argue that in order to avoid same tragedies, at least we can genuinely try for even “impossible” things.
Then you may need to have that conversation with him and others who share that view. I think an end to war is difficult, but possible. Peace though will depend on how much Taliban realize that they can’t/don’t have monopoly on what is Islamic or what is right for Afghans.
I agree. That is why I am yelling to engage d Taliban in a civic debate as much as we can. Pre-conditions such as “redlines” can’t help the current process.
I agree with civic debate but I don’t see d redlines campaign as preconditions, more as explaining the current reality of Af & d aspirations of our generation 4 peace. Silencing voices, concerns & aspirations, even conditions, does not lead 2 peace, discussing them is necessary.
