A thread on mutliple battles of Af women 1. As Afghan women activists, we have 2 fight on multiple battle-fronts every day. The first of these is on communicating d reality of the post 2001 Afg 2 Taliban, despite not only us, but also our gov still not sitting across from them.

Women activists face verbal abuse and threats by supporters of Taliban on social media for expressing their concern, stating their position or sharing their memory of d Taliban regime or demanding for equal rights in d post peace state.

2. But that is just 1 battle. Afghan women activists also face pressure from those who label them as "anti-peace" 4 demanding an inclusive process & aiming 4 a lasting peace. This label is used more generously against activists than anyone actually hindering the process

3. Then there r those who label women activists as "urban", "elitist" & detached, when d last time they spoke to someone from a rural community was probably years ago, & when women r d only Af constituency that have spoken on peace from all parts of Af through

4. There are also people like Dr. Cheryl Benard who belittle Afghan women's resistance, ignoring history, context and extent of our resistance.

Despite all dis, Af women continue 2 mobilize, 2 resist, 2 speak out.Of course we still have a lot of homework 2 do, 2 include more voices from across Af, 2 develop more content on various aspects of peace, 2 broaden alliances internally & internationally, we know we MUST do more

What gives me hope n dis very uncertain time for my country, is d activism of Af women & youth & d support of friends of Af. This gives me confidence that despite d political hurdles, we might be able to utilize d opportunity 4 ending dis war, & even have hope for peace.
