There is a spectrum of responses to d ceasefire announcement. This is unsurprising & understandable. Some r excited & hopeful about a possibility of reduction n violence, some r weary of Taliban intensions, in light of d violence, & consider d ceasefire offensive 2 lives lost.

In d past ceasefire, there was fear & concern among women I met.We remember vividly d inhuman treatment of women under d Taliban regime, & d ongoing atrocities against women n Talban controlled areas.There was & is fear & concern about their presence n our cities & neighborhoods.

There r also victims & families of victims of Taliban violence. We need 2 acknowledge them & their pain. We need 2 see d ceasefire through their eyes & not allow ourselves 2 forget r forgive on their behalf. We do not have d incense 2 forgive on anyone's behalf.

Reaching lasting peace requires patience, empathy & tolerance. It requires acknowledging d diversity of narratives, voices & experiences& considering & addressing concerns. It requires selflessness & humility. Including on how ceasefires r negotiated, communicated & implemented.

May the ceasefire really be an occasion for reduction n violence. May our worst fears not come true. May we utilize d ceasefire to listen, to learn about different grievances & concerns, to support delivery of much needed services to conflict-ridden areas. May it be an occasion

2 support & not harm aid workers & 2 facilitate d free movement of civilians. Taliban will illustrate their seriousness 2 ending dis brutal,senseless war through their response. Regardless of how d ceasefire goes, there will be concern & questions, & there must be space for them.

Excited? Really? Please stop reading Anis Daily. It's only Ghani, US embassy and Taliban who are excited. People see it as a groundwork for the loss of few more provinces.

@realMusazafar I have spoken 2 ppl who think & hope ceasefire after so many years of war is a step towards peace. I have also spoken to those who disagree with ceasefire & r concerned abt infiltration. There r diverse views on dis issue & I think that is 2 be expected.
